About Our Society

Hambleton Golf Society was formed in 1999 since then we have played at many different courses around Yorkshire & Lincolnshire, some of these we return to each year.

Initially a repeated discussion by a small group of friends we decided to give it a go mid year in 1999, we were amazed by the interest generated, now some years on the society is stronger than ever.

​

Generally we take between 20 to 30 players to each venue and where we can we make a day of it. We play team competitions for sleeves of balls, then there is the main event which is played for an annual trophy plus one to keep for first and second place. there are cash prizes for guessing how far the captain will drive his very first shot, plus cash prizes for getting nearest the pin too.

Many of the original members are still part of the society which over the years has had over 100 members. we dont place limitations on ability we accept all golfers (but we do have to respect the courses which we play on), the only condition is that you must be able to have fun!
